Let’s Enter His Gate

Posted by: Karen Cheng  |  Filed under English entries - 英文文章

Let’s enter His presence this week, laying aside everything; let’s press on and enter His gate with Thanksgiving and expectation. This is the season to pray, to humble ourselves and to have our hearts filled with hope and understanding. May we encourage one another not to be lost in the waves of the events, busyness of the holidays, or the result of 08 election. May we shine even brighter by holding out truth and reaching even wider to people around us.
Oh Lord, come this year, visit all the pockets of the earth where men, women and children are waiting and longing. Visit us, Emmanuel.

Put On Love

“As I was praying for you last night, I know that love is the virtue that He wants you to put on. Proverbs 10:12 says “Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs.” No one is being hateful nor anything remotely close to it in the situation. But it is used here to contrast anything not of love. Love Covers over All wrongs. Love is the garment you first put on over your heart. Then you lay a blanket of love over everyone through your speech and your actions. Through this process, your blessing is the conformity into Christ-likeness by putting on love. Love is not a warm fuzzy feeling. Love is a list of attitudes in 1 Corinthians 13. So in your talks with various people, remember to be patient, kind, long-suffering, always hopeful, and keeps no records of wrong, etc. Sow correctly; in due time, you will reap a harvest of righteousness and joy.

Having said that, let me go on to my second thought. Proverbs 10:13a says, “wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning.” 10:14, “Wise men store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin.” 10:19, “When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.”
It is not enough to have a heart of good intention (love). You need wisdom to know how to speak. Pray and heed the council in Proverbs as you read through this book. Bind love and wisdom together, you will have greater understanding in communication.

Everyone has issues, hurts, preferences and opinions. Many things have been said, and some deeper stuffs are yet to be revealed. Human relationship is like peeling onions, there are layers to discover. Only the truly humble ones grow through each stage and still keep a tender heart.”

I wrote this to remind myself and to encourage anyone who is caught in the delicate task of communication in difficult situations. May love and wisdom be what come out of our lips. May our mouth be a fountain of life.

Election Thoughts

Election Day is coming up in a few days. 2008 election has so many potential long term effects. As a Christian, I take this right and responsibility quite seriously.
If one reads the books of Chronicles and Kings in the Bible, it’s not hard to realize that in God’s eternal perspective, moral choices have serious weighty effects. Secular history books have written volumes to discuss about leaders in the political world. Most of the vast humanity usually lose contact with the truth of these leaders inner beings. However, the words of the Eternal One are few yet cut through like a double-edged sword. – These were the two evaluations written in the Chronicles: Did the king choose righteousness or wickedness? Did the king turn the hearts of his people toward or away from God?

Moral issues of a country is what brings blessings or curses to a land. When God in Heaven sees a nation of people crying out and standing for life, truth, and righteousness, He will remember mercy and bring needed changes beyond our wildest imagination. I believe in mercy. I believe in standing for life. I believe that through prayers, there is yet a great awaking reserved for America. I believe this is the hope of America. While the vast America is crying out for “change”, much like the time of Israel when they asked for a king to replace the judges, there is a different cry in many believers’ hearts – for the mercy of God to wash over this land, and for a move of the Holy Spirit to leave a lasting godly fear in our hearts.

If you took the time to read this blog – please allow me to tell you -
Go to vote, and let moral issues be the deciding factors of your vote.
