Journeying into the heart of God

Posted by: Karen Cheng  |  Filed under English entries - 英文文章

My oldest one is living four-hours away from us for three weeks. This is the first time any of my children is not with either one of the parents. This temporal separation has been hard on me as a mom. I miss my big boy! However, this experience has become a part of my journey – the journey into the heart of God.

Since we dropped him off, I find myself interceding for him all the time. I ask the Father to release protection, provision, and favor on him. I ask the near presence of God to be his daily portion. Throughout the day, as he comes to mind, I offer short and meaningful prayers before the Throne. I have always been a praying mom. Now I am a fervent praying mom.

Love cares. When there is physical separation from the one I love, I turn my cares into intercession. This is when I begin to appreciate and understand “Jesus, forever our intercessor!” Jesus is at the right hand of the Father, fervently interceding for me, and for you! His heart is burning with love for us; and He is contending for fullness, for us – all the time. Oh, what love divine and what strength and tenderness. I find my heart melted again and again, thinking about the One who loves me.

I am thankful that even a small event in my life turns into a divine journey into His heart…

The pure, life-giving words of God

Posted by: Karen Cheng  |  Filed under English entries - 英文文章

I love reading through Psalm 119.
As I meditate on the simple, sincere and heart-felt words from the psalmist, my heart is stirred with a longing for the pure, life-giving words of God to once again speak over me.

The Lord is my portion; I promise to keep your words.
I entreat your favor with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.
When I think on my ways, I turn my feet to your testimonies;
I hasten and do not delay to keep your commandments.

Oh Holy Spirit of God, the anointed teacher of the truth, teach me, open my eyes, to the wondrous truth of these words. It takes the grace of God to love the word of God and to live it out wholeheartedly. I am asking for that grace this afternoon.
